Business improves as Health@Work begins new programme to deliver the Workplace Wellbeing Charter at no cost to businesses and organisations based in Gloucestershire, funded by NHS Gloucestershire CCG.
The Public Health England endorsed Charter award helps organisations start and improve their commitment towards workplace health and wellbeing which in turn brings considerable business benefits.
The process involves benchmarking of current practice at Commitment, Achievement or Excellence followed by clear guidance on how to make improvements with support and resources provided. The eight areas of the Charter are Leadership, Absence Management, Health and Safety, Mental Health, Smoking, Physical Activity, Healthy Eating and Alcohol.
The Liverpool based charity has played an instrumental role in the development and delivery of the Charter since its inception, running funded programmes in Liverpool, Wigan and Southampton as well as being the training provider for facilitators in counties up and down the country. Organisations big and small can be accredited; those in the larger category have already included NHS trusts, local authorities, universities, police forces and organisations such as Arriva and Jaguar Land Rover.
Susan Doran has been appointed to oversee delivery of the contract in Gloucestershire, based in Oxstalls Campus at the University of Gloucester and will be responsible for engaging with businesses and organisations, managing relationships and delivering on charter training and accreditation. Susan has over 16 years experience within health promotion and improvement, ten of which was working on Scotland’s National Workplace Health Programme and recently over two years working for Public Health Wales delivering their Workplace Health Programmes.

The contract is commissioned by Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group with additional support on offer for businesses from Active Gloucestershire, G First - the county’s Local Enterprise Partnership - and the Local Sustainable Transport Fund.
