200 leading Liverpool women gather to reveal their ‘super hero self-portraits’

200 leading Liverpool women gather to reveal their ‘super hero self-portraits’

A Liverpool artist is preparing to welcome top city businesswomen, councillors, MPs, CEO’s and survivors of difficult life experiences, during the private view of a unique and powerful art health project, Stand up for Sistahood.
To celebrate the social initiative that helps top business women de-stress and brings healing to vulnerable women in the city through the use of ‘expressive art’ - founder of Big Love Sista Clare Campbell is inviting participants and the public alike to attend at Liverpool School of Art & Design on March 13th at 6pm, to ‘witness the incredible art and stories of women from Merseyside’.
The evening will allow women from very diverse backgrounds to unite and network with each other, ahead of the grand unveiling of the 200 ‘empowering self-portraits’, which will then go on tour around the city and across the UK.
Clare said: “Throughout the project, it’s been fascinating to meet and hear the stories of our leading Liverpool women. Not only have they taken valuable time out to create fabulous art by expressing their emotions they have raised vital funds to allow Big Love Sista to continue helping vulnerable women in need of support.
“By joining the pledge to Stand up for Sistahood, the women have pledged solidarity with more vulnerable women in the city to offer hope and inspiration to those going through difficult times. Likewise the women from the project have been an inspiration to the leaders and it’s helped us to realise that we are all leaders in our own right and have a role to play in this city.”
The aim of the NHS funded project has a serious side to highlight and offer therapeutic interventions for the issues faced by vulnerable women in Liverpool recovering from domestic violence, breast cancer, older women in care homes living with dementia and others.
Clare added: “I’m so proud of our city and to have so many inspirational, talented and resourceful women on-board, who stepped out of their comfort zones to offer their stories and paintings in a very creative way. Like all Big Love Sista projects the message is clear - all women are super heroes, goddesses and warriors who deserve to shine!”
The Stand up to Sistahood Private View Exhibition and celebration will take place on Friday, March 13 at Liverpool School of Art & Design at 6pm
Men, women and children all welcome to attend.
