Rod and Sharon do most things together. So, when, Sharon suffered a last-minute attack of nerves about heading to the Bodyline Clinic on Hawthorn Lane, Wilmslow about her recent weight gain, Rod agreed to go along for moral support.
Little did he know that this simple act of kindness would result in him losing an astounding five stone over the course of the next 18 months. And with the help of Bodyline’s clinical weight loss programmes, Sharon also shed a massive three stone, giving the couple a new lease of life ahead of Sharon’s 50th birthday cruise in 2020 and the arrival of a new grandchild.
Describing their incredible weight loss journey, Sharon said: “With my 50th birthday, a cruise to the Canary Islands and the arrival of my first granddaughter just around the corner, I had lots to look forward to, but things went downhill when I injured my knee out jogging and had to have an operation.
“During my post-op recovery, I was told to rest and reduce movement as much as possible. I quickly started gaining weight and it was worsened by the steroid medication I was prescribed. No matter how healthy my diet was, the weight just kept piling on and it really started to get me down.
“One evening Rod came home from work and said he’d noticed a change in my behaviour. I’m usually a very upbeat person, but I was becoming depressed. I knew it couldn’t go on any longer, so I confided in a friend who had already lost weight with Bodyline and thoroughly recommended the prescription weight loss programme. I decided to give it a go but my confidence had taken a hit and I felt nervous, so I asked Rod to come with me.
“Our experience at the clinic was nothing like I expected, there was no reason to feel apprehensive. The Bodyline staff put us at ease right away and when we sat down in the waiting room, the other clients were chatting away like they’d known each other for years – it felt very comfortable and welcoming.”
“My time with the nurse wasn’t rushed either; she was very understanding and I didn’t feel awkward about answering any of her questions. Taking my health conditions into account, she prescribed Phentermine capsules and Rod was prescribed Diethylpropion. We both left the clinic feeling really motivated to lose some weight.
“By the time we returned for our first weekly check in, we’d both completely smashed our targets and begun to see what we could achieve.
“18 months down the line and we’re a combined eight stone lighter.
“I can’t wait to show off my new slim figure on my 50th birthday cruise next year and Rod is almost unrecognisable as a 13 stone version of his former self. We always had a great relationship; but losing weight together has made us even closer. We’re so much happier and have lots more energy, which will allow us to be more active grandparents for our newest arrival in December.”
“Losing weight has improved all areas of our lives and the best thing is that we can feel proud that we did it together!”
Sally-Ann Turner Bodyline managing director added: “Rod and Sharon have a fabulous bond which has only been strengthened by going on this journey together. With one another’s support they have exceeded all expectations about their weight loss and they are looking forward to a bright and healthy 2020. I’d urge anyone who is thinking of visiting our clinics to buddy up with a friend or partner. Very often we see brilliant results when people lose weight together as it’s an added layer of support and celebrating one another’s success can keep you on track to achieving your goals. We also have a fantastic Refer a Friend offer running throughout December and January where you can both save money on membership.”
Bodyline Wilmslow is one of eight clinics located throughout the North West including Stockport, Openshaw, Warrington and St Helens. In addition to being the region’s leading prescription weight loss company, it is also the only UK organisation to hold both CQC and Home Office regulated status, recognising its absolute dedication to client safety.
