A LOCAL opticians is celebrating one colleague’s dedication to the store, as he marks over two decades of outstanding service.
Ken Glover initially joined the team at Newcastle-under-Lyme Specsavers 20 years ago on work experience, before taking on a Saturday job while studying Optometry at university. Once qualified, he joined the store full time as an optometrist.
His passion and dedication to eye-health and training immediately shone through, leading to Specsavers sponsoring Ken through its pre-registration optometrists program, and now sees him supervising new pre-registration students, mentoring a new one each year.
Ken has a vast amount of knowledge in the field of optometry, alongside an impressive range of skills which see him provide clinical training to the Specsavers team, and perform high-level optical services such as glaucoma referral, cataract assessments and its Minor Eye Conditions Service (MECS).
Debra Fitzsimmons, store director at Newcastle-under-Lyme Specsavers, says: ‘We’re extremely pleased to celebrate Ken’s long service achievement. He encompasses what Specsavers is all about, providing the highest level of care and service to the public.’
Commenting on his anniversary, Ken says: ‘Specsavers is the reason I became interested in optometry and I’m excited to be celebrating 20 years with the store that has supported me so much in my career. I look forward to continuing the great work and reputation of the Newcastle-under-Lyme store, and I’d like to thank all of my fellow colleagues and customers for making my job so rewarding.’
